| Richard
Nagel was born in Sydney. He then grew up in the Queensland
outback on his family’s 70,000 acre sheep and cattle property,
Charlotte Plains, near Cunnamulla where he worked for 10 years
after finishing school.
Sally
Holt was born in Canada. She then grew up in Oxfordshire,
England. She worked at Collins Publishers in London before
travelling the world
Richard
met Sally whilst she was travelling around Australia in 1986.
They were married in Oxfordshire, England in 1987 and have
two children, Benjamin (22) and Jessica (20).
The
Nagel family moved to the Mudgee district 18 years ago and
now own Old Bara, a picturesque 1100 acre cattle property
between Mudgee and Lue.
As
well as being a farmer, Richard is also a very skilled carpenter and sculptor, he produces fine and unique timber furniture and garden sculptures made from recycled metal. He started
his furniture business in 1993, now “Nagel’s
Tables & more”. Most of what he creates
is made to order to suit the needs of each individual.
Sally
is very involved in the equestrian world and, until very recently, was a competitor in One
Day Events across the state.
As
a result of Sally’s near fatal horseriding accident
in 1998, Sally and Richard became involved in fund raising
for Careflight. They've held 3 black tie balls in Mudgee which
raised over $110,000 to help keep the essential Careflight
helicopters and trauma specialist doctors in the air. |
